about

Where does inspiration for writing a piece or improvising a solo come from? How audible are these inspirations still in your own writing and playing? How unique is your musical language? And should the interpretation be left entirely to the listener or guided by the title?

Without the objective of finding a definitive answer to these questions, we find that the act of contemplating the questions forms a foundation for the process of creating the compositions and arrangements. The result of these contemplations is the debut album “Reflections On Predictability” by the Simon Bremen Quartett, recorded during the band leader's year abroad in Helsinki. It features their Finnish friend and vibraphonist Olli Virtanen.
